About SSI What is the Senior Studies Institute (SSI)? SSI is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization that provides presentations, discussions and other events mainly designed for seniors. SSI was founded in 1991 by Neal Naigus, of Portland Community College (PCC), and a group of seniors dedicated to lifelong learning. We are continue to be affiliated with PCC and have since grown to almost 300 members. Purpose This organization shall provide an opportunity for older adults to share in the exploration of topics of mutual interest, to contribute their experience and their expertise, and to expand their circle of friends. (SSI Constitution, Article II) We continue to offer a robust program of in person as well as on line presentations and activities.
