FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT SSI
Who can become a member?
Anyone can become a member, not just seniors. There is no age limit.
How much does membership cost?
$40/year for individuals, $70/year for couples. SSI’s year begins on September 1. Membership includes access to all classes and activities.
How can I become a member?
Download a membership application from our website under the “Join Us” tab: www.ssipdx.org/join-us.html
Print the form and fill it out, then mail it with your check to the address on the bottom of the application. Online credit card payment is also available… Follow the instructions in this same location on our website.
Where are your presentations, activities and current events discussions located?
Until we are able to resume physical gatherings, almost all SSI activities are conducted online using the Zoom platform. Our Sellwood Current Events group will meet on Monday afternoons in person starting in September 2022 and we will be testing in person class offerings this Fall with four (4) classes. Please check your class schedule for these classes, either on this website or in the weekly SSI Newsletter.
How often are your classes/presentations held?
Our activity schedule is published weekly. We have activities throughout the week, depending on your interests. While our schedule has not yet been finalized as of this writing, we expect the schedule will be available and published in September.
Do I have to register before I can participate in SSI activities?
Non-members may participate in two (2) activities prior to becoming a member of SSI.
What kinds of classes do you present?
Presentation topics vary widely. We have had presentations about Irish history, Oregon wineries, well-known artists, and many others. We also have streaming courses from various sources, primarily from Wondrium, and are looking into other professional online lectures and courses (at no extra charge to our members).

No, our presentations are not accredited. Members attend our sessions because they enjoy learning.
